ANANDA OUTCLASS ZAHIRA 36/18

Ananda outclassed Zahira by 36 points to 18 in another match of the same tournament played in the evening session at Londgon Place. Ananda led 18-13 at lemons. The winner’s scoring came off six tries and two drop goals while the losers got their points from three tries and a penalty.


ANANDA in 43-27 win

Ananda College, Colombo cut loose mid way in the second half to score a rousing 43 points (4 goals, 3 tries) to 27 (1 goal, 4 tries) win over St Sylvester's College in their schools under 19 division one segment B rugby tournament match played at the Bogambara stadium, Kandy yesterday. At half time Ananda College led 19-10.

Sylvestrians opened scoring early in the game through No. 8 Lasitha Attanagoda to take a 5-0 lead.

But the Anandians hit back in the period of play which followed through tries by winger Shamila Akkampila, flanker Janith Dissanayake and center Ashane Premaratne who goalled two of these tries. Just before lemons, prop Amila Weerakoon scored an unconverted try.

After the turn around the Sylvestrians look over the lead through 2 tries by No 8 Lasitha Attanagoda and hooker Champika Dissanayake and full back Sean Rabel goalled one of these tries.

Trailing behind 19-22 at this point of play the Anandians came storming into the game by not only wiping out the deficit but also took up a commanding 43-22 lead through some hard play till five minutes from the end. Scoring tries for the Anandians in this half were winger Chamika Saranath, fly half Woshan Randima, winger Ashan Jayasanka, flanker Achala Suranjaya, full back Dharsha Lochana added the extra points to two of these tries.

Five minutes before the final whistle, the Sylvestrians scored through centre P Arvinda to reduce the gap.
